Chief Marvin Mailey

Bureau Chief of Community Correction

Chief Marvin Mailey began his law enforcement career in 1989 with the Delaware Department of Correction as a correction officer. He went on to become a police officer with the Dover Police Department in 1993. He progressed through the ranks and selected as the chief of police in May 2017. Chief Mailey retired in May 2019. Chief Mailey was appointed the Bureau Chief of Community Correction by Commissioner Claire DeMatteis on November 4, 2019.
Prior to his career with the Dover Police Department, Chief Mailey served in the United States Air Force as a law enforcement specialist from 1985 to 1989. He is a graduate of Wilmington University and holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command. Chief Mailey was the past member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the past chairman of Delaware Police Chiefs’ Council.
