DCRC - Delaware Correctional Reentery Commision

Gov. John Carney signed Executive Order 27 on December 4, 2018 establishing the Delaware Correctional Reentry Commission to examine policies and procedures around re-entry. It is our responsibility to look out for every Delawarean. We need to make sure offenders who serve out their sentences are able to re-enter society ready to positively contribute to their communities and with the support they need to succeed. The Executive Order will improve our existing reentry procedures, and reduce recidivism, thereby strengthening communities across our state.

Maureen Forde-Whelan

Director of Adult and Prison Education Resources Workgroup

Maureen Forde-Whelan has been with the Delaware Department of Education (DOE) since 2000 where she has served as the Director of Adult and Prison Education Resources Workgroup since 2007. During her time with the DOE, Mrs. Forde-Whelan also served as a teacher supervisor at the Delaware Correctional Center from 2004-2007 and as an education associate with the Adult Education Program from 2000-2004. Prior to her time with the DOE, Mrs. Forde-Whelan served as the Executive Director of the Adult Community Education Network from 1999-2000. She also served as the Director of Adult Services at the West End Neighborhood House from 1989-1999. Early in her career, Mrs. Forde-Whelan served as a site instructor with the First Step Program at the YMCA of New Castle and as Dean of Academics at the Jordan Day School/Princeton Academy.
